We are All Freshmen in the University of Life

Sharing is good

Several weeks ago I was part of the second of a three part Interfaith Trialogue where members of the Jewish, Islamic, and Christian communities came together to ask questions about each other an the views of other faiths in a safe place.

A week later I attended the third in an interfaith series in my area. The theme for the series has been “overcoming the fear of the other”. This last gathering was at the Islamic Center of Virginia. It was my first time in a mosque and I made a misstep of not removing my shoes (no pun intended). The imam talked, then my rabbi, then clergy from a local Episcopal church and a Methodist minister. I continue to find it comforting that there are parallel teachings in all of our faiths.
